The Louisiana Bar Foundation (LBF) presented mock checks to two of 18 Kids’ Chance Program scholarship recipients for the 2014-15 school year. The checks were distributed at a golf tournament hosted by Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Corporation (LWCC) at the Country Club of Louisiana in Baton Rouge on Monday, September 22. All proceeds from the tournament were donated to the LBF Kids’ Chance Scholarship Program.LBF President Hon. C. Wendell Manning, addressed the golfers and scholarship recipient families during a lunch prior to the tee-off. The mock checks were presented by Manning and LBF Committee Co-Chairs, Michelle Sorrells of Baton Rouge and Sherry Watters of New Orleans.The Kids’ Chance Program provides scholarships to dependents of workers who are permanently and totally disabled or killed in a work-related accident compensable under a state or federal Workers’ Compensation Act or Law.This year, the LBF awarded $45,000 to 18 students to help with their education.
