Kids’ Chance of America (KCOA) was thrilled to once again participate as an Expo Booth at the 2014 National Workers’ Compensation and Disability Conference on November 19th and 20th, at Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.This year, we were also proud to be named the official charity organization for the National Conference, and with this distinction came the opportunity for KCOA President, Suzanne Emmett, to address a luncheon crowd of over 1000 participants. Suzanne took advantage of the moment to spread the spirit of Kids’ Chance to a group of participants and companies from across the country who are highly relevant to the goals and mission of Kids’ Chance organizations. She also announced the launch of our new “Planning for College” initiative, which is designed to identify and provide planning support for younger-aged children who may apply for Kids’ Chance scholarships when their college preparation years arrive. In addition to our booth exposure and Suzanne’s luncheon address, Bob Wilson from www.workerscompensation.com was on-site to help with a fun video project. As our “roving reporter,” Bob applied his usual fun flair to conduct interviews and start conversations about Kids’ Chance during convention expo hours. Please stay on the lookout for this video coming in mid-December!This national gathering was also perfect opportunity for Kids’ Chance to conduct some important face-to-face business. The KCOA Advisory Board met to discuss important national trends impacting the workers’ compensation industry, and how they may ultimately affect Kids’ Chance. Additionally, the KCOA Council of State Organizations also met for their inaugural meeting, which proved to be an exciting discussion with fresh input from our many states on ideas to grow and improve the organization.Kids’ Chance of America would like to extend our sincerest thank you to Healthesystems for sponsoring the KCOA expo booth, making this incredible opportunity for increased visibility, publicity, and face-to-face meeting connections possible.
Faces of Kids’ Chance: Jessica LThese are the students, future leaders, and game changers whose dreams your generosity supports. These are their faces, now hear their stories:“Not a day goes by that I don’t remember that it is because of you that I was given this opportunity to attend college and pursue my career as a teacher. I have learned and experienced so much in the last 9 months that I have decided to return to Kuwait next September to teach for (at least) another year.I had students that knew absolutely no English at the beginning of the year and at the end of the year they were speaking and writing complete sentences. It has been such a rewarding position.Thank you again for everything, and I will write again at the beginning of next school year.”Taylor H.Winthrop UniversityEducation: Teaches in KuwaitKids’ Chance of SC Scholarship RecipientAbout Kids’ Chance of AmericaKids’ Chance believes that we can make a significant difference in the lives of all children affected by a workplace injury by helping them pursue and achieve their educational goals.Kids’ Chance of America was established for the purpose of creating, assisting, and supporting Kids’ Chance organizations throughout the United States and other similar programs that provide educational opportunities and scholarships for the children of workers seriously injured or killed on the job.
