The late Harry Douglas “Doug” McCoy, one of the earliest advocates for Kids’ Chance and a driving force behind its expansion to all 50 states, has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Robert M. Clyatt Distinguished Service Award. Doug’s wife of 49 years, Teresa McCoy, will accept the award on his behalf at the KCOA National Conference, taking place from April 7-9 in Denver, Colorado.
“Doug was a true pioneer and champion for Kids’ Chance,” says KCOA Board President Jennifer Wolf. “As a claims manager for Traveler’s Insurance, he traveled across the country, spreading the Kids’ Chance mission and leaving a lasting impact everywhere he went.
“Because of dedicated volunteers like Doug, we achieved our goal of establishing Kids’ Chance organizations in all 50 states in 2022 — the same year we sadly lost him,” Jennifer continued. “It is our great honor to recognize Doug’s incredible contributions and unwavering commitment to Kids’ Chance with KCOA’s highest distinction.”
The Robert M. Clyatt Distinguished Service Award, named after Kids’ Chance’s founder, is given annually to an individual within the Kids’ Chance community who exemplifies the passion for supporting children affected by a parent’s work-related injury.
