Kids' Chance is All About Scholarships

Kids' Chance of America will celebrate 10 years of success at the 2017 Annual Meeting scheduled for May 5 and 6 in Alexandria, Virginia. We'll be joined by guest speaker Varo Duffins, Director of Financial Aid at Swarthmore College. When Varo is not assisting students and their parents in affording a private college education, he is volunteering his time as co-chair of the scholarship committee for Kids' Chance of Pennsylvania. Varo will give an informal overview of how a Kids' Chance Scholarship can benefit a student, especially in the context of student loan debt now topping levels of $1.4T. Varo will also talk about some key changes to the financial aid application process in this current year as well as the conversations occurring on some college campuses related to access and affordability of high need students. We are also honored to have Jim Laychak attending as our keynote speaker. Jim has led the Pentagon Memorial Fund since its inception, serving as the primary public spokesperson. He has also served as the volunteer President and Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2003.As if that's not enough, we will hear from Kids' Chance of Virginia scholarship recipients who will share their stories, and describe how Kids' Chance has positively affected their educational pursuits. Join us to learn more about what we have achieved in the past ten years, connect with volunteers from across the country, and learn skills that you can apply to strengthen your state organization.
