On March 23rd, 2021, Cheryl Doucette, KCOA Membership Director, along with guest presenters, Dee Jones (KCLA), Suzanne Peterson (KCAR) and Amy Gibbs from AgoraNet, led the Student Engagement / Outreach - Data Collection, Management and Communication Webinar as part of our Give Back Better Series. Together, they presented successful strategies for student engagement with a focus on data collection and storage. Attendees learned how to streamline their productivity and ensure all data collected stays safe and secure.

This webinar focused on how to effectively engage with students both during and after the scholarship has been awarded.

• Starting with your current student engagement methods, how can you implement new programs to help build solid relationships with your students?
• Benefits of doing a Student Care Package Program. Start small and build each year.
• Best Practices related to how to collect, manage, and maintain your student data in a comprehensive way allow for easy access for your volunteers.

The speakers also shared the benefits of collecting applications online and storing your data in a safe a secure way.

• Moving to an online scholarship application and renewal portal helps to streamline the process and can help attract more potential students to your program.
• Best Practices in Data Security include:
• Use of strong passwords that are unique
• Website Security
• Email Security
• Consider storing and sharing materials in a cloud-based platform to allow for easy access for the volunteers.

In summary, this webinar encouraged attendees to engage with their students in meaningful ways throughout the year. This increases the likelihood that the student will stay engaged after graduation.
